Exchange Server Server Licenses
Microsoft Exchange Server offers 2 types of licenses for servers:
- The Standard license type is designed to support mailboxes of small and medium—sized companies. It is also suitable for other Exchange roles — other than the mailbox server — in larger organizations. This release supports from 1 to 5 mailbox databases.
- The Enterprise license type is intended for larger organizations that may need more mailbox databases. This release supports from 1 to 100 mailbox databases.
Client licenses
There are two types of CAL licenses for Exchange and they are compatible with both server editions:
- The Standard license type promotes productive work regardless of the type of platform used by the user, whether it is a PC browser or a smartphone. The new Exchange Server tools allow you to increase the productivity of users wherever they are, while ensuring the protection of corporate data. To use the features of this release, you must obtain a Standard CAL license.
- The Enterprise license type helps organizations achieve compliance with requirements at a lower cost with a new built-in archiving feature and information security capabilities. Thus, in order to access the functions of the Enterprise CAL license, the company needs to purchase CAL licenses of both editions: Standard and Enterprise.
